Lina had a soccer game at 9:30am.
DH and M were going to go over to my parents to take the boat in to be winterized.
The forecast at their house (2 hours east of us, over the mountains) was high 60's with possible rain in the afternoon.
Saturday morning I asked DH if we could all go to visit my parents. I know he wanted to just go over, take the boat in, and return home.
But he was so kind, and said yes.
After Lina's rainy, muddy game (in which she stopped three goal shots as goalie), we headed over the mountains.
(On the way out of town, we stopped at the bank, McDonald's, and the gas station. McDonald's forgot Merek's chocolate milk, all of our drink straws, and DH's quarter pounder. Seriously.)
As soon as we were over the mountains, it was sunny. It was gorgeous. When we drove up to my parents' house, it was 70 degrees. It was 50 when we had left our house.

| DH snapped this photo to post on FB from my parents' shop. He knew the sunshine and blue skies would lift my spirits. |
When we returned home, mom filled another small box for me--daffodil bulbs that my parents had dug up from their flower beds last week. I am looking forward to planting them and then seeing all the yellow in our yard next spring.
My aunt from California is visiting my parents right now. This week is my grandmother's birthday so she came up for that. It was good to see her again.
We enjoyed some time out in the yard, in the sunshine. The kids had the scooters out, we played a little basketball, and grandpa put out the targets for bows and arrows. The kids had fun on the swings and slide, too.
It was just a really nice, relaxing afternoon in the sun. Amazing what that can do for my spirit. Spending time with my family and my parents. The sunshine.
We finished off the visit with dinner out to Tequilas (not an uncommon occurence during our visits to mom and dad's).
When we stopped at the rest stop midway through the trip home, rain was falling. By the time we got to the mountain pass, it was a downpour. At one point we had our windshield wipers on high and could barely see the road. It was a torrent of rain. At home, the rain was falling but not too hard.
Sunday at church the Sunday School teacher mentioned something about the flooding rains on Saturday. So glad I went with DH.
The kids' annual program was a church this week. They each had their parts memorized and did a fabulous job. Lina sang a song with four other girls and performed beautifully. She had a speaking part, as did Krish and Bird. They all did great!
Miranda graduated from Primary last month so she wasn't in the program (which was a little weird--is she really that old?). She was called up to the front of the congregation today and given her certificate of advancement. They asked her to recite her favorite Article of Faith. She chose the 11th:
We claim the privilege of worshiping Almighty God
according to the dictates of our own conscience,
and allow all men the same privilege,
let them worship how, where, or what they may.
She was a little nervous to be up in front of everyone but she spoke clearly and smoothly. It was a great day as a parent to watch our kids participate and perform the parts they have been working on learning.
I'm thankful for our weekend. I feel ready to head into the week. It's a busy one, but it's all good stuff.
A certain little boy will be three on Thursday . . . :-)

Love that photo from the shop, even if it is all brown. I haven't seen that for 6+ years. Sad.
Sounds like a great weekend. :)
