Portraits

First, Happy Birthday to my Grandma Marge! Today she is celebrating her 89th birthday. (I sent her a box of Hershey's chocolate because she loves chocolate. But I'm not sure it will get to her today because I messed up her mailing address on the package.)

Sunday the 16th I decided to take a couple of pictures of the kids when we got home after church. It was overcast, they were dressed nice . . . and school pictures were the 19th. Addie inspired me to take the portraits instead of going for school photos. I used my 50mm 1.4 lens and shot on manual. Nothing special or fancy, just trying to get some good shots of the kids.

Here is how they turned out:

I thought they were great :)  After showing them to DH, he wasn't convinced we should skip school pictures, though. "It's tradition," he said. Miranda had actually already had her pictures taken at school early-September. So, I ended up sending in order forms for the other three as well. We'll see how they turn out.

Do you like these? Do you do your own yearly photos with your kids or do you order school packages?

(That just reminded me how I used to get the girls' pictures every 3 months from birth at JCPenneys. I wasn't so diligent with the boys. In fact, the last photos they had taken there were when Merek's was 6 months old.)

ps--Mom, let me know if you would rather have these or school photos.

These are great! You did a fab job and your kids are all so good looking!:) Just this week I got a card in the mail with a friends sons school picture in it, taken by Lifetouch. It was the same pose as last year and looked almost identical to last years picture! But the thing that caught my eye was the year that Lifetouch adds to the corner of the pictures! I know that would come in handy because I will for sure forget what year I took G's pictures! Have a good rest of your week!

I love these pictures. SO much more accurate than school pictures. I did my own this year with a friend, and I will never go back. Totally not worth it. What a beautiful family you have! (this is your cousin, in case you couldn't recognize me with the bubble in my face and all...)

Beautiful pictures of the kids. I hate to say it, but I also still buy the school photos for "tradition" along with taking some photos myself. I usually put the ones I took on the wall though.

Great photos! I can't get over how much Miranda & Christian have changed. They look like they've really grown up recently.

Beautiful photos! I end up buying the school pics every year. They're never the best pics, but I just feel like I should order some anyway. LOL
