Breast Cancer Awareness 2012 Calendar

In September, the SRM Design Team was given a choice of projects to make. One of them was a Breast Cancer Awareness project. I signed up for it . . . which was a hard decision for me. So many of my emotions over the past year have been been kept up inside. I think I felt that this project might be a sort of therapy. Originally, I had planned to do a layout with a photo of Paige, along with a speech she wrote about living with breast cancer. But when it came down to it, I couldn't do the layout. So . . .

I put together this 2012 6x6 calendar for my Breast Cancer Awareness project.

I left room for photos or written memories on each page. My thoughts have been to give this to someone currently dealing with breast cancer or a breast cancer survivor. However, I've also thought about sending it to Paige's mom or sister. I'm really not sure because, for me, "think Pink" and survivorship sting. (Just sharing my heart here . . . forgive me if it's selfish). I wish I had had it done in time to donate to an auction Paige's family did to raise money for their Race for a Cure.

The calendare is featured on the SRM blog today as part of October's Breast Cancer Awareness Month posts.

It is a lovely calendar. The bold pinks remind me of Paige's bravery and strength. No timidity in that girl! Follow your heart on who to give it to.

What a nice calendar. I understand what you mean about the survivorship sting. I lost my grandmother to breast cancer.
