Today I am thankful that I got to hear Dallin H. Oaks speak. He was visiting our area and held a special conference for our stake. He walked through the audience before the meeting started and shook hands with as many people as he could, including M and me. I could feel his special spirit. Here is a summary of his message:
--Do not take God's love for granted. He loves ALL of His children.
--Does the Lord know where I stand? Am I willing to be obedient? His commandments are not restrictions to make our lives miserable. They are for our happiness, markings along the path back to Him.
--We need to give more generously to the poor, if possible.
--We need to be patient with ourselves and with one another as we grow into our mantle, our calling, as followers of Christ.
And the choir that sang today was amazing. So thankful for the opportunity to live in a country that allows us the freedom to worship as we believe.
