About February 2010, Paige invited me to have weekly lunches with her. Kay (her sister-in-law) and Stephanie (her mission friend) joined us. We'd rotate houses each week, trying to serve up healthy, nutritious lunches, and enjoy each other's company. (Sometimes I think Paige had a bucket-list she was trying to get checked off because she knew more than any of us that her time was short).
We kept up our lunches pretty well until summer. Then in fall we only had one or two together before Paige was really sick. I remember one Tuesday in November, the week before Thanksgiving I think, I called her and told her I was bringing her lunch that day. We ate takeout Thai. James happened to come home for lunch, so it was the 3 of us. That was my last lunch with Paige. I remember being so scared because her nose was bleeding throughout lunch and she looked so weak. I think that is when I knew it wouldn't be long.
Kay, Stephanie, and I started up our Paige lunches again in January. We met every other week. But then summer hit again and vacation schedules got in the way. Stephanie went back to work this fall, but Kay and I have made an effort to have lunches every other week. Yesterday Steph said she was working from home today so I told her to come over for lunch.
It was good to be back together again.
Tonight the kids and I went over to visit James, Esme, and Stanley. Stanley is going for an extended stay to Montana with Paige's brother. I knew the kids would want to see him. They love Stanley and always enjoyed taking him for walks and had fun when we would take care of him when they were out of town. And I needed to see him again. He accompanied Paige and I on our morning walks together. What a good dog.

I am really enjoying your thankful posts. It is great that you all are still meeting for lunch. :)
Today I am thankful to be off work tomorrow. And, looking ahead, I'm hoping Friday I will be thankful for good news from yesterday. :)
