Out of my comfort zone

Sometimes during Bird's violin lesson, as I'm taking notes on what his teacher is saying, I start sketching layouts. The sketch for this layout was designed during his lesson a few weeks ago.

I love all the pattern papers in the April Hip 2-b Square kit, so I thought it would be fun to showcase them with this sketch.

I've had this photo on my desk for awhile now. So glad to have it on a layout. I love my guys. Since it was a little blurry I converted it to black & whtie to give it more contrast.

Are you wondering about the title of my post? Well, if you've seen my projects, you know I'm a pretty linear, fill in the whole page type scrapper. So just having these strips on layout was a new thing for me. AND, I made an 8-1/2x11 page, instead of 12x12. Whoa! Way new to me :)

I love how it all came together. The banner strips, wood shapes, buttons, slug bug . . . it makes me  happy. Kimberly does a great job putting the Hip Kits together.

The May Hip Kit has been revealed and will be shipping the 20th of this month. It is a beauty!

Don't those masks look like so much fun to play with?

Well, we are heading into a BUSY weekend. Miranda and I are helping with registration at the Cinco de Mayo half-marathon in the morning, Lina has clogging, Krish has a game then a birthday party, Bird has a game, Lina has a game, and Miranda is babysitting. I think Sunday will definitely be a day of rest for us!

Any fun plans for your weekend? Enjoy!

Great Layout Melanie and it is extra creative since you sketched it out first!
