Lina's birthday party is this Saturday. She chose a "Tangled" theme. I got a little crazy idea and decided to make the invitations (mind you, I'm the type of person who will go the easy-route and send evites/emails). I got this idea to make a Rapunzel and pulled out the ol' Sizzix and dies. Found some great ones! And I pulled some older papers from my stash (REALLY old--see that Thomas Kinkade patterned paper in the background?) It was really fun though to put these together. They aren't too elaborate but I figure for 9-year-olds, they should love them, right?

So, I need some ideas for the party. We are having breakfast--chocolate chip pancakes and strawberries. Lina wants to do sidewalk chalk drawings, dance, braid all the girls hair and put flowers in the braids, make friendship bracelets, and ???? We have the girls for three hours--I need some cute "Tangled" ideas. Anyone?
I'd love to send them each home with a paper lantern but need to find somewhere local to pick them up. I know my blog readers are creative--please share any ideas you have. I'll be SO thankful :)

Cute invites! Great job with the old die cuts.
Betty just went to a princess party where they did a Rapunzel game. The mom braided a 10 foot yarn braid (really thick, I think she used 6 skeins of different colored yellow yarn) and then the girls stood upstairs taking turns holding the braid and the mom called down, "Rapunzel, Rapunzel let down your hair" and the mom attached a piece of a puzzle and then when they were all collected the girls put the puzzle together. This was for 3 and 4 year olds, but maybe you could adapt it to older girls.
Oh my gosh...could those invites BE any CUTER?!!!
Love the hair braiding and friendship bracelet braiding ideas! Also love the lantern idea! It sounds like a fun and yummy party!
I'll ask Bryn if she has any ideas since they're the same age!
You should talk to Megan for Tangled suggestions. She LOVED that movie, and you know how great she is with kids.
well, here's to hoping my kids will want this theme, so so so using this brilliant idea!
