9 months and crawling!!

Can you believe this sweet baby is 9 months already?? Flying time!! This past week he has taken off crawling. Miranda was my earliest crawler at about 8 1/2 months. The other three were well past 10 months before they crawled. I was hoping the same for Merek. Not so--this guy is ready to go! And he goes! He is an explorer. So, on go the cabinet locks, up go the toys and books, and up goes the stair gate (I didn't even have to use the gate with Curtis!). The weekend before he turned 9 months he moved from his tummy to sitting. Then the next day went from sitting to hands and knees. Then the next day started moving his hands forward and scooting his legs up. That development went quick!

At Merek's 9 month appointment he was 23 lbs. 15.5 oz. They wouldn't round it up to 24 pounds :) He was in the 90-95%. He was 30 inches long (95%) and I think his head was 50cm (?), which was 95% as well. He is wearing 12-18 month clothes and size 4 diapers. For the most part he is sleeping through the night. We had a couple of rough nights a few weeks ago because he had a bad cold.

He stopped nursing (I'm lucky my kids pretty-much wean themselves) and is taking a bottle great. Still eating about the same as far as food goes. The pediatrician said to start introducing more table foods now. Merek loves bread! I give him fruit in a little mesh bag thing that he can chew on and suck the juice out of, without having to worry about choking. Love it! So does he--especially when I put watermelon in it :)

His bottom left-side tooth and top front right tooth have broken through the gums. Five teeth total now.

One morning while Brad was away, Merek was asleep next to me in the bed. He giggled and then "talked" in his sleep. It was so cute--I had to try hard not to laugh out loud.

He has also starting pulling himself up to things (piano bench, train table) so I moved his crib mattress to the lowest setting. It is strange going in to get him after naps and nighttime and seeing him either sitting up or pulling himself up on the crib rail. I'm SO not ready for this little guy to be so mobile!

He makes lots of noises--bababababa, dadadadada, mamamama--and still gurgles a lot. The other kids get a kick out of that. When Merek is concentrating, he gurgles. He loves to play the piano with Miranda and gets quite upset when it is time to be done. He loves to be outside and doesn't mind sitting in the grass. He still loves his baths, although when we went to the lake the other day he wasn't very happy to get his feet wet. Brad moved slowly through the water with him and eventually it was up to Merek's waist and he was fine.

Loving this little guy more and more each day!

He is just adorable! Sounds like he will be keeping you busy. Blake was walking a week before he turned 10 months old though. And he was climber! Now he's almost 11! :( You make me miss my babies.

Mel, Merek is adorable. It is so precious to see how you are keeping track with the times of his milestones and getting his teeth and his weight. Don't you sometimes wonder what is going through that little mind of his?
