February Paper Posies Projects

Hello Friday! Wow, this week FLEW by. I think it's because of our pending excitement this weekend. Though, it seems like when you are waiting for something, time goes slowly. But maybe because I am so unprepared for our venture that time has snuck up on me. (Is snuck a word?).

I have some fun projects to share with you today. I will admit I was not thrilled to see the paper line in the Paper Posies February kit. It's just not my type. However, it was SUPER easy to work with and I had a ball creating with this kit. Michele constantly puts together kits that are amazing and come together really nicely.

There is always an alterable item in the Paper Posies kits. This month is this cute little scalloped heart tin. Confession #2 today--I usually avoid the alterable items. :) But I was determined to work with it this month. I used a Jenni Bowlin paint dauber to color the bottom of the tin. Then I layers the canvas hearts from Basic Grey. Added in the sticker, pins, and button (which comes from one of the Basic Grey pre-made borders).

Next up--this card with brown houndstooth pattern that I LOVE. I exacto-knifed (wow, great vocab today) out two of the hearts on the patterned paper and then backed it with the dotted pink cardstock. I used the hearts I cut out to pop up on top of the other hearts on the paper. Those heart pins are so cute!
This is Valentines Day last year. I love taking a picture of the kids with their valentines. Merek was just eating a chocolate from the box of See's Candies dad gave him. That cute border at the botttom of the page--premade by Basic Grey. Rocks! And I tried my hand at the layered banner in the top right corner. What do you think? Do you like it? The two pink pennants and heart came that way, I cute the triangles and the light pennant, laid them on the paper and stitched across them.
And, my last project, is a lift from April Massad in the Sept. 09 Creating Keepsakes magazine.  I loved the quilted look of her page and thought it would go well with the heart patterned paper. This photo of DH and I was taken a few weeks ago during our crazy winter storm where we got lots of snow and didn't have power for 3 days. So we went sledding instead :)
Another pre-made BG border on the RS of the page. (It's the one I stole the red button off of for me tin). I added in some canvas hearts. The white paint is another Ranger paint dauber (hmmmm, learning to like those things). Then I just layered the title area to my heart's content.

I think there are still a few more of the February kits left at Paper Posies. You can check out the rest of the design team's work here.

Enjoy your weekend!
