Ellensburg Rodeo

It's become a tradition--Ellensburg Rodeo on Labor Day! The kids get so excited to go with Grandpa and Grandma. Here's Bird all decked out in his rodeo apparel. He had to show everyone at the house his "buckin' bull" shirt, jeans "with the tag on the back" (Levi's), and his red boots.
The parade of horses at the beginning of the rodeo is a site to behold. All of the sponsors have riders and the posses are all there. Plus, rodeo queens and special guests. That's a lot of horses in one arena. This year the kids were a bit disappointed that the one-arm bandit and his buffalo wasn't the entertainment; however, the trick riders from Calgary were pretty amazing! The girls are crazy(!) and better have dang good insurance.
The boys loved looking through the program on the way home and for the next several days. A few days after the rodeo, Krish was studying this page. Then all of a sudden, he says, "Mom, I think I see us in the rodeo book!"

So I took a closer look--sure enough, there we are. He said he recognized our seating area (we always have the same great seats--thanks, Dad!) and then looked to see if we were there. We are right behind the red wall, to the left of the white post.
OK--so maybe not so exciting to you blog readers :) but Krish was really excited, 1) that we were in the rodeo book, and 2) that he found us. Guess all of the hours spent searching "Where's Waldo?" books has honed his eye-catching skills.
I'm SO excited because DH will be home in a few hours after a week-long business trip to the Czech Republic. AND tomorrow is Krish's birthday. Grandpa and Grandma are coming over for that. Lots of fun here!
Any fun planned for your weekend? Hope so--have a GREAT one :)

The rodeo looks awesome. I'd like to take my kids to a rodeo someday. Our weekend plans are much quieter than yours - a nap for me is high on the priority list!

That sounds like a fun tradition. I think it's cool that you are in the book, too. Neat that he was looking for you all. :)
