Weekend at Lake Chelan

This last weekend we went to Lake Chelan. DH thought that would be fun to do for Father's Day weekend. We only have a few weekends this summer available to take out our boat and this was one of them. We stayed at Wapato Point--this is the view from our condo.
The kids were super excited to go swimming in the pool--it was just around the corner from the condo. The water was freezing, but they didn't seem to care. Merek went to bed while they were swimming (thus the PJ's).

DH just observed the swimming activities--he said it was too cold for him Friday night. But on Saturday he did get in the pool (so did I) and played with them. They had a lot of fun riding on his back as he dove into the water and having him shoot them up into the air like rockets (only to land with bellyflops!).

I took this picture looking the other way on the lawn outside the condo. It was 9:13pm when I shot this. That is one thing I LOVE about summers in WA--it is light until 10pm. Days are going to get shorter though from now on :(

This is just a shot of the moon high in the sky at night.
We had a great time in the boat on Saturday. (DH and the kids had taken it out on Friday a bit but I had to go back to the condo after dropping them off at the launch because Merek had fallen asleep in the car).

Bird sat shotgun and held on for his dear-life. When we were in the no-wake zone pulling in to dock, he finally went up to the front with the other kids,

Merek was not such a big fan of the boat. He kept is left hand over his eye, and snuggled in to me, quickly falling asleep.

DH bought an innertube to pull behind the boat. The girls had a great time! Thankfully he had bought a wetsuit as well because the water was pretty cold. Miranda had a permagrin on her face the whole time she was out there.

Lina was thrilled to get to ride on the innertube, too. She had fun bouncing around and giving us the signals for "faster" or "slower".

Snacks are essential on the boat :)

DH snapped this shot of me and Merek--this is pretty much how the two of us spent time on the boat. He slept and snuggled into me the whole time.

Once we were back on the beach, the kids played in the water and sand for awhile. Merek did not like the feel of the sand on his feet at all and cried when we took his sandals off. Finally, he calmed down when he saw the ducks and quails. He had a great time chasing around this little quail.

"Where'd the bird go?"
The kids loved playing in the water and with the sand.

We played miniature golf on Saturday. At first the kids just went for it, but then I tried to teach a little bit of proper putting techniques. Here is Bird doing his best:

Merek loved snatching up the balls and putting them in the hole himself. After awhile DH and I tag-teamed occupying him so the kids could actually play.

M and Krish playing with the phone in the condo. DH decided on a light dinner for Saturday night. It was perfect. We finished it off with a strawberry-rhubarb pie from the Pie Lady who sells homemade pies at the entrance to the property.

We really had a great weekend. On Sunday we went back to my parents to drop off the boat. It was nice to spend Father's Day with DH and my dad. So glad to have had this family time together!

I look at your amazing photos and yearn for summer. We are having the coldest winter in many years...and it is not snowing.
