I was picking up laundry in the boys' room. As I shook out a pair of pants, a rubber ducky flew up in the air and came down on my head. What? Where'd he come from?
Birds are trying to build a nest in my dryer vent. Seriously, it's only been 3 days since I've done laundry! They literally broke off one of the vent flaps to get in. But the funny thing about it is . . . after my initial shock of seeing the exposed vent, I thought, "What inventive birds! They sure are smart!" And I laughed about it.
My kids expected a festive St. Patrick's Day breakfast. Well, I failed to make one. But I did have a loaf of Cinnamon Chip bread from my trip to Great Harvest this week. DH and Miranda had cut into it before the rest of us were up. The other kids were ready for a "surprise" and when they saw the cinnamon chip bread they said, "Oh, yeah, this is perfect. The cinnamon chips are like gold pieces!" Phew! I got off easy on that one.
Wednesday it was raining, again. We've had about 12 straight days of rain. Well, I had some errands to run. As I drove to Costco (in a town about 10 miles west of here) the clouds cleared. I smiled when I saw the blue skies and sunshine. Amazing how that can completely lift my spirits.
Merek has actually started putting words together! I thought he would just say "uh" for everything, forever. The other day he had his sippy cup of milk. We were leaving the house and I asked if he wanted to bring it with him. "No. Milk stay." Hallelujah! He can talk! And one morning this week, he and Bird were standing out on the porch, waving goodbye to Krish and Lina up at the bus stop. Bird yelled, "Bye, Lina!" Merek copied, "Bye, Lina!" Whoo Hoo! He said a NAME other than "mom" "dad" or "grandpa".
I'm so excited that it is Friday. There is just something about Fridays--even though it is my "work" day for the week (teaching piano lessons). Once it's done, we have the weekend. Although, Saturday is a full day for me. I get to go visit the camp where my church is having their annual camp for teenage girls. Last year I went as a counselor, and wasn't planning to go back this year. (It can be a little hard to find someone to watch five kids for a whole week--thanks mom and dad!). But they asked me to be one of the directors this year, well, for the next three years actually. I thought and prayed about it for a week before having a really good feeling about it, that I should go. Saturday is our director orientation day. We won't even get to go back to our camp area though because there is still too much snow in the mountains! But we can get to the main lodge (I hope).
Anyway, have a fabulous weekend. I hope you are able to find some happy time for yourself, with your family, or friends. There is SO much devastation going on in the world . . . we need to find joy and hope in our lives somewhere, everyday.

I just love this post! :)
I am finding joy right now with the fun that comes with watching the NCAA tournament (1st wknd is always my favorite), baseball practices are starting up, and knowing that opening weekend is just 28 days away! And...we have NO conflicts with both boys games. (How did that happen???)
Wonderful post Melanie. Have a wonderful weekend.
Mel, you will make a great girls camp director! What lucky girls to have someone so creative.
