Monday, Monday

Mother's Day was wonderful! I woke up with a 2-year-old's face pressed next to mine. He had climbed into bed with us at 3am. DH and the kids made french toast for breakfast.

Then we headed off to church. At church all of the women were given these beautiful flower cookies--they even had glitter on them. I hope it was edible because I ate mine on the way home from church! The kids made these paper flowers and delivered them to all the moms at the end of the meetings.

After we returned home, I took a short nap in the sunshine shining through the girls' window. It rained on and off today but the sun did peek out occasionally. We talked to my MIL on the phone. DH made a simple yummy lunch of tuna melts. Lina put together a little array of snacks for the afternoon--crackers and cheese, apples, and trail mix. Merek was getting a little cranky so I held him for a few minutes on the couch--and he fell asleep in my lap! That doesn't happen very often, but I'll sure take it in Mother's Day!

I actually fell asleep again for about 20 minutes while holding him. Miranda woke me up to say dinner was ready. DH had put together a delicious meal of fajitas. He even made fresh guacamole and salsa. Mexican food is my favorite!

After dinner I opened the gifts from the kids. Krish and Bird had already given me gifts from school on Thursday. But they each had another gift for me today. I LOVE homemade gifts and cards. It is fun to see what the kids come up with. I hope they will continue to create gifts for me over the years. With daddy's help, the boys also gave me a new candle, Scrabble, and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

Miranda made brownies for dessert--my favorite :) Apparently we had run out of oil so she substituted applesauce instead. They were yummy!

Now that I have eaten so much food it is a good thing I bought myself a gym membership for Mother's Day :) I'm planning to go to my first Zumba class tomorrow night--can't wait!

I feel so blessed today. My family made the day very special for me. Every day I count my blessings but it is fun to have days like this set aside where we can really reflect and focus on what really matters in our lives.

Well documented Mothers Day. I love the photo of Merek sleeping in your arms.
