This morning was Lina's Tangled Party. I am by no means a party planner, and actually do not enjoy throwing parties. However, we do let our kids have birthday parties every other year (the girls on odd years, the boys on even years). So, it was Lina's turn and here is how it turned out.
| When the girls first arrived we had them all sit down and paint a Live Your Dream painting. It was interesting to see the varying levels of interest in painting amoung the girls. Some loved it, others wanted to be done 3 minutes after we started. |
| The birthday girl working on her painting. |
| We set the paintings on the porch to dry. Each girl had her own paint palette. I wrote their names on each palette, along with "Live Your Dream". |
| Then we worked on decorating goodie bags. These little felt bags were at Michael's. We had some felt trim and cupcakes to go on them. |
| A sampling of finished goodie bags. We put flower hair clips, starburst candies, licorice, and a fruit-roll up in each one. |
While the goodie bags and paintings were drying, I served the girls chocolate chip pancakes. Yum! After pancakes, they all chose three embroidery floss colors and we tied friendship bracelets. (Forgot to get pics of that). As the girls danced to the Tangled soundtrack, they each took turns having me braid their hair. I cut up some flowers from Michael's and wove them into each braid. Each girl also received a travel-size fold-up brush with a mirror to take home.
| Some of the girls wanted a full french braid. |
| Others wanted a small braid on the side of their head. |
| Birthday cupcakes--Lina isn't a fan of ice cream and cake TOGETHER, so she just wanted cupcakes. |
Then we opened gifts. It was really sweet to see the gifts each of the girls gave to her--so thoughtful and perfect for Lina. She has a great group of friends. It was cute that the first gift she opened was a Rapunzel Barbie!
It was raining so we didn't get to do the sidewalk chalk--that would have really been a good activity for the party. The event was a lot of fun--and just a note to myself: next time 2 hours is PLENTY, not 3.
Have a great weekend!

Looks like they had a wonderful time - great job!
Cute, cute, cute! What a great party! I laughed on the part about the painting...some were finished in 3 minutes. Sounds like my art camp last summer! LOL! And yes, I agree... 2 hours is more than enough time! Happy b.day, Lina! What a cutie! :-)
So glad the party was a success. Such a beautiful birthday girl.
Wow the girls did a great job painting and those hair pretties are so cute! It looks like you threw a great party together.
