Over the Weekend

We started off the weekend with movie night on Friday--watching Tangled :)

Saturday my amazing hubby let me sleep in until 8:30! He does this pretty much every weekend and I so love him for it. Last Saturday we started spring cleaning. We cleaned out our closet, filling 8 garbage bags of clothes and things to donate.

This past weekend we worked on our room a little more, but were focused mainly on the girls' room. Or, I should say, what was becoming the girls' room. Lina and Merek have been sharing a room since school began. Miranda had her own room. But we got some bunk beds from some friends and the girls wanted to share them. So, while they cleaned up the room and closet, I went to brunch with my friend, Amy. Happy to have some time with her. Life gets busy but we need to make time for good friends.

When I returned home, the girls had made great progress. I proceeded to take down Merek's crib. It was originally Miranda's crib! We have had it up in our home for almost 12 years. And, no, I didn't take pictures. It didn't even cross my mind. But I am a little sad about it.

Then I took apart Lina's twin bed. Now it is all in my dining room--hoping it doesn't stay there long. Next we brought the bunk bed pieces upstairs and assembled the bed (without a manual--guess we're used to putting furniture together now). However, we discovered we don't have the hardward to connect the top bunk to the bottom bunk, nor do we have the hardward to attach the rails to the top bunk. So we ended up just putting the beds in the room with a nightstand between them. We'll have to figure out how/where to get the hardware.

Merek moved into Miranda's old room, which doubles as our guest room. Now he is sleeping in a queen bed. He went down for bed without a problem tonight. He was really tired though. We'll see how it goes. Quite less ceremonious than our previous crib-to-bed transitions with the other kids.

Tonight we had dinner at Claim Jumper. Bird won our family's NCAA tournament bracket competition. (None of us had any teams left into the Finals so we were able to tally them already). The winner gets to pick where we go to dinner. It was fun--the kids were so excited that we let them get dessert. They each picked the Build Your Own Sundae. There go to choose up to 5 toppings. We thought they would be served with the sundae complete--but it came with the ice cream plain and all the toppings in individual bowls so the kids could put the toppings on themselves. They loved it! DH, Merek, and I shared the I DECLAIR.

We walked around the outdoor mall afterwards. The kids wanted to stop at the Candy Shop, Cupcake store, and See's Candies! We said NO since we'd just had dessert. They are so silly! Then we headed to Borders and browsed the books. Our family loves to do that.

It has been pouring rain here for days. The rivers are swollen and there is a lot of lowland flooding. As we drove home we saw so many pastures that now look like lakes. The falls near our home are raging. I took the boys down on Thursday to see them. From all the mist, we were soaking wet in about 5 minutes! Such an incredible force of nature.

On Sunday, three of the kids and I headed to St. Michaels for church. I taught Sunday School. Our lesson was on David being anointed to be king by Samuel. The 3rd graders impressed me with the leadership qualities they listed that they thought were important--respectful, strong, courageous, good heart, and willing to do what is right.

DH stayed home with the M's because M1 had pink eye and M2 still was battling his ear infection.

After church I took a 2-hour nap with Merek. I love naps! The rest of the afternoon we just relaxed together, read stories, I created a couple of cards just because I wanted to. DH made a great BBQ chicken dinner. We watched some a home video afterwards. It was of Miranda as a baby, when we were first feeding her solid foods. We used to video forever! 10 minutes of her eating rice cereal! (LOL) She sure was a cute baby.

This week is the kids' spring break. They get to spend some time at Grandma and Grandpa's--well, if everyone gets well quick.

Enjoy your Monday :)
