First Day of School

Well, here it is. First Day of School. **Sigh** I really don't like the first day of school.

But the kids were excited. M was nervous--big middle schooler this year! She had to be out the door at 7am. It was nice to have some time with just her this morning.
Lina and Krish decided to ride the bus this morning. Ms. Penny was right on time at 8:31am. Thankfully we had gone out the door a few minutes early for pictures on the porch.

Last week we had gone shopping. Each of the kids got a new outfit for school and a new pair of sneakers. They were really looking forward to wearing their new digs today.

I made them pancakes and eggs for breakfast. Got all of their lunches packed. And now it's just me, Bird, and Merek home for the day. After cleaning up the toy room, Bird and I did YOGA from Comcast On Demand. He actually stuck with it for the whole 45 minutes. Maybe that will be a fun routine for us to do.

I'm going to miss having the kids home all day, no schedule to worry about, no places to be . . . Summer, I miss you already.

It's 10:35am. I pick M up at 2:15; Lina and Krish at 3:25. This may be a long day.

(And it really doesn't help that it is raining today).

Sorry--this should-be-excited post is kind of a downer. Guess I'm feeling a little down today. I'll have to work on my to-do list. That should help me feel better to get things crossed off.

Thanks for understanding.

I understand the feeling - our house seems so quiet, and we only have one fewer kid here. We've been playing restaurant all morning. I think I better work on the to-do list too!

I was so glad school started yesterday! I was really looking forward to the routine again! Your Yoga sounds fun! Hope the rest of your day is good and the kids had fun!

I'm w/you Melanie, my house is way too quiet and my spirits are low. I can't seem to get motivated. It may take a week for *me* to get a new routine.

I can't wait until the teachers start needing volunteers to help out. :-)

That's weird that your kids leave at different times. Here they all go at the same time. Sorry you are bummed today.
I'm jealous that your kids could wear pants and long sleeves today. It was another 95 degree day here. Ugh.

I totally feel for you. Not a fan of back-to-school time myself... :-(

The yoga sounds like fun though...

Hugs...

I love this post. I so wish that we had a reliable bus service for school children...here we only have public transport...and not very reliable. So when my kids were at school we sat stuck in traffic for an hour to get them to school on time in the mornings. In our schools children wear school uniforms...it is so cool that your children can wear what they want.
