Counting my blessings . . .

2010 has been off to a bit of a rough start for us. It began with a stomach bug making it way through the house. Then we had to take Merek to the ER with 2nd degree burns on his left hand and arm. He pulled a bowl of hot soup off the counter at my parents house. Then earlier this week our desktop crashed--for good. Plus, my dishwasher gave out the day before Christmas Eve so I've been doing dishes for 7 daily for almost a month.

HOWEVER, these are such small trials compared to what many others are going through at this time.

--I am thankful that we ONLY got the stomach bug and not something worse.

--I am thankful Merek's burns were only on his hand and arm, not his face, and that the burns were 2nd degree and should heal without scarring. (And I'm thankful for my first aid training that kicked in on instinct so I knew what to do until we could get him to the ER. And for my dad and Trent who gave him a healing blessing at the ER).

--I'm thankful we had backed up our files to an external HD just before the holidays so there was relatively little that I lost with the computer crash. And I am thankful that I have a part-time job that provided me the emergency fund to get a new computer.

--And, even though doing the dishes is an inconvenience, I am thankful for the quiet 30 minutes at the end of each day that I have alone to wash the dishes and reflect upon my day and my feelings.

I just added photo above of Merek in the ER. DH took it with his phone so it's not the best. I have more pictures of the burns on his arm but will spare you the graphics :)

Yes, you are blessed. I am glad that Merek's burns weren't any worse and that he is healing.
I really feel for you on the dishes. There were 8 in our house growing up and it was my job to do dishes. I count my dishwasher now as a blessing! ;)

Poor little Merek! I am glad that it wasn't worse but am sure it wasn't fun to go through! Maybe it was time for a new computer :) but the dishes.... I am not sure I could go too long without one.

Trusting with you that Merek will heal up without any scarring. I salute you my friend...for taking each of these things that have happened and turning it into a gratitude.
