Last week I tried to get good snow pictures by adjusting the white balance. There was an article online by Candice Stringham (I think). She said to push the shutter 1/2 way in Auto while focusing on something gray (I did that with my porch) and then check the setting. Then, go to manual and use those same settings for pictures with snow. It is suppose to help the snow pictures have bright white instead of dingy gray. The first photo below is before adjusting the settings.

Great snow pics Mel! Glad to see you blogging girly!
fun snow pics...the shot from your back porch is beautiful!
don't you just love experimenting with your camera?
I like the morning snow pic best!
Wow, the view from your house is breathtaking!!! It's been ages since I've lived near mountains - I forgot how beautiful they are!
Great pictures! WOW! i love snow picture.
I'm with Carrie, I like the morning photo best too.
GJ working on your WB. I can show you another way to set it at our class this month.
I like the morning one because it highlights the mountains better. With the afternoon light, it is all about the snowy roofs - It would be interesting to see how different it is without snow on the roofs, if the mountains are more prominent.
