First Day of School

I cannot believe school is here already! The summer went by too fast. Gone are the days of sleeping in and relaxation. I relish the unscheduledness of summer. Alas, the girls were excited to go back to school. M even said the other night before bed, "This summer seems to be taking forever." Here are some pictures of the girls before they got on the bus this morning:
(Don't you love the neighbor's truck behind them?)

Here is our big 4th Grader this year. She picked out her new top and shoes last week. Even though the girls both got quite a bit of hand-me-downs from cousins (they were quite happy with the "new-to-them" clothes--which made me quite happy as well) and we didn't need to do shopping this year, I got them each a new top. Nana and Papa bought them each a new pair of shoes, too.

And our 1st Grader. She'll be gone ALL DAY! I'm so not ready for that. She was very excited to wear these "pretty" clothes from her cousin, V. She paired them up, along with the socks. She was going to wear sandals but we decided this morning that the black shoes would be better to have on a recess so wood chips didn't get in her shoes. This is maybe the 2nd time she's worn two ponytails in her hair--and she was really happy about them.

So now it's just me and the boys at home. Next week the really hectic schedule begins with swim lessons, gymnastics, ballet, sports class, and piano lessons. **Sigh** Back to reality . . .

I think we'll welcome the girls home off the bus today with chocolate chip cookies as a special surprise--plus, they'll help me feel better :)
